My name is Suzanne Carstairs and I am proud to hold the position of Principal at Albany Creek State School. It is a privilege to lead a school community such as this and I am committed to ensuring that we grow as a school, and achieve the aspirations held by families and staff.

Albany Creek Primary School was established in 1874 and opened in 1875. It remained a small country school until the mid 1970's when nearby housing developments caused a rapid growth in school population.

Albany Creek Primary currently has a student population of approximately 720 students from prep to year six.

In addition to twenty-nine classroom teachers our experienced staff includes a Principal, two Deputy Principals, Head of Curriculum, Head of Special Education services, a Teacher-Librarian, a Music Teacher, Learning Support Teachers, Special Education Teachers, a Physical Education Specialist, a Japanese Teacher, visiting Instrumental Music Specialists and Advisory Staff. The school also has range of support staff, including a Guidance Officer, Social Worker, and a Chaplain.

Our school has a strong and proud history. We offer a high-quality learning program, where we strive to ensure students have fun, are challenged, and grow as learners and citizens. We offer a broad range of events and opportunities for students, including instrumental music, choirs, leadership opportunities, Interschool-sport Gala Days. We have a number of long-standing Arts events including our Speaking Competition, Kerribee and participation in Creative Generation.

Our active P and C Association operates a tuckshop service three days a week and also provides a uniform shop. Fundraising and family events are held regularly throughout the year to continue to build a wonderful family atmosphere that we are very proud of at Albany Creek.

The school community is proud of its grounds and has strived to develop an inviting atmosphere.

It is part of school policy to keep parents well informed and interested in the school community. We believe that where parents, teachers and school organisations co-operate fully, the child benefits considerably. A weekly electronic newsletter, QSchools, QParents and Facebook page all help to keep you informed.

Our staff work tirelessly at improving their own professional learning and are always striving for our students to be the very best they can be.

It is my pleasure to welcome you to our school community and to extend to you an open invitation to learn more about school either through the pages of this website or in person.  Our friendly office staff are there to help you.

I believe in the power of our school to make a difference in our community – to our students – but also to each other. I invite you to join me in contributing to this endeavour, and look forward to the positive energy we can create in doing so.

Warm Regards

Suzanne Carstairs

Principal
